Grab a Burger, Pull Up a Chair. The Simcoe Giants Are Playing Under the Lights Tonight.
Powered byWalker Mortgages, your hometown mortgage coach.
Tonight at Lions Park in Simcoe, the lights come on and the Simcoe Giants 10U take the field in front of their home crowd.
If you have never watched 9 and 10 year olds play competitive baseball, this weekend is going to change your mind about what young kids are capable of on a diamond. Come out, find a seat, grab a burger, and watch some of the best youth baseball in the region happen right in your own backyard.
This is the Simcoe Giants 10U hosting their own tournament. And this group has earned the right to host it.
Who These Kids Are Playing Against
The Simcoe Giants compete in the Inter County Baseball Association, one of Ontario's most established and competitive youth baseball leagues. The ICBA has been developing young players since 1919 and is made up of programs from some of the largest cities in the province. Hamilton. Kitchener. Guelph. Cambridge. Waterloo. Woodstock.
Simcoe sits in the middle of that field and has been holding their own all season long.
The Giants have spent the 2026 season going toe to toe with AAA programs from the biggest baseball markets in Southern Ontario. They have beaten the Baycats, the North York Blues, the Waterloo Tigers, and the Nationals this year. Every time someone wrote them off they found a way to compete. That is what this group is built on.

What Makes This Weekend Special
Playing at home means everything at this age.
The Giants know this. The coach said it plainly when asked about this weekend.
"The kids are very excited to play in the Simcoe tournament. There is always a strong cheering section for us at home and the first game is under the lights so they are pumped for that. The energy the crowd brings can be very powerful on the diamond."
Under the lights in your hometown. Playing in front of the people who know your name. For a 9 or 10 year old, that is about as good as it gets.
And the crowd matters more than people realize. These kids feel it. They play differently when their community shows up. The bleachers at Lions Park this weekend are not just a backdrop. They are part of the game.
A League That Does Not Make it Easy
This is not a recreational summer tournament. The teams coming to Simcoe this weekend have been competing in one of the most demanding youth baseball circuits in Ontario all season.
The coach put it plainly.
"We are playing in the ICBA this season. Really good teams top to bottom. There are a lot of big cities in the league and this group has been able to remain competitive."
That context matters. When you watch the Giants take the field at Lions Park this weekend you are watching a team that has been tested week in and week out against programs with deeper rosters, bigger facilities, and larger player pools. And they are still standing.
Come Out This Weekend
If you need one more reason to show up, the coach gave it to you.
"This weekend is going to have very good baseball to watch. I think people will be surprised how well 9 and 10 year olds can play the game. So come on out, grab a burger and enjoy the games."
