Haldimand's Dale Schweyer Earns Spot on Team Canada U23 Roster for Pan Am Qualifier
From the diamonds of Fisherville, Ontario, to the international stage, Dale Schweyer is making his hometown proud. The right-handed pitcher, who grew up playing for the Haldimand Heat, has been named to the Team Canada U23 Men’s National Team and will head to Santa Rosa, Argentina, next week for the WBSC Pan Am Qualifier.
The qualifier, running September 15–22, will feature eight of the top nations from across the Americas, all vying for spots in the 2025 WBSC U23 Men’s Softball World Cup. Schweyer will wear the maple leaf for the first time at this level, stepping onto the international stage after a summer filled with standout performances at home.

Schweyer recently capped off his club season with the Toronto Batmen in memorable fashion, helping them win the U23 Canadian Championship in Kitchener, Ontario. He took the ball as the starting pitcher in the gold medal game, shutting down Tavistock in a nail-biting 3–2 victory. His dominance throughout the tournament earned him recognition as the event’s Most Valuable Player, a title that cemented his place among Canada’s brightest young arms.
For those who have watched his journey from Haldimand and now onto the national stage, Schweyer’s success is no surprise. From his early days in the Heat program to winning national gold and MVP honours, his rise has been defined by steady growth, competitive fire, and a commitment to his craft.

Now, Schweyer has the chance to carry that momentum into Argentina as part of a Canadian squad hungry to prove itself. For fans in Haldimand, it’s another reason to tune in and cheer on a hometown athlete as he represents both his country and his community.
