Knights Battle to Hard-Fought 3–3 Draw with Mustangs

Waterford, ON – October 2, 2025
The Norfolk Knights U18A showed grit, balance, and teamwork on Wednesday night, earning a 3–3 tie against the visiting London Mustangs in an early-season matchup that had fans in Waterford on their feet.

The Knights came out flying, controlling much of the opening period with speed and puck movement. After an early power-play goal from London, Norfolk answered quickly. Austin Westbrook buried his first of the season midway through the period on a setup from Samuel Dwyer, and just minutes later, Owen Hewitt gave the Knights their first lead, finishing a feed from Jack Smart to make it 2–1.

London managed to even the score in the second period, but the Knights refused to back down. Dwyer continued his strong start to the year, finding the back of the net with help from Brody Westbrook, restoring the lead at 3–2. A late London goal knotted things up heading into the third, but from there, Norfolk’s defensive structure and goaltending took over.

Harrison Crossen was steady between the pipes, making key stops to keep the game tied, while the blue line — anchored by Hewitt and Nathan Pilgrim — absorbed pressure and cleared rebounds efficiently. Despite several physical battles, the Knights kept their composure, playing disciplined hockey down the stretch to preserve the draw.

The Westbrooks combined for a pair of key points, while Dwyer’s two-point night earned him recognition as one of Norfolk’s top performers. The Knights’ balanced attack and steady play in their own end reflected the same hard-working identity that the program continues to build on this season.

It was a game that showcased resilience, teamwork, and a strong start to the home schedule — the kind of performance that gives Knights fans plenty to cheer about as the team looks ahead to a full slate of OMHA action this fall.
