Norfolk Knights U15B Ready to Skate Fast, Play Hard, and Grow Together
The Norfolk Knights U15B are gearing up for a big season on the ice, fueled by a mix of fresh faces, returning leaders, and a coaching staff determined to build both skills and character. With Head Coach Darryl Martin, assistants Cory Inman and Aaron LaPorte, and trainer Casey Cleaver behind the bench, this group of young athletes is committed to developing into a team that competes hard every game while growing stronger as individuals.
This year’s goals stretch far beyond wins and losses. The coaching staff has outlined a vision that blends skill development with team culture: building a unified roster, improving skating speed and endurance, sharpening shot accuracy and release, and boosting hockey IQ so players learn to make quicker, smarter decisions both with and without the puck.
Building on Leadership and Unity
The Knights enter the season with a number of new players, which means team chemistry will be a top priority in the opening months. Strong leadership from returning skaters will be key to building that cohesion, ensuring everyone feels part of something bigger than themselves. The emphasis is clear: this season is about playing for the crest on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back.
First Tournament, First Big Test
One of the early highlights circled on the calendar is the Knights’ first tournament of the year in Creemore, October 17th–19th. For many players, it will be their first chance to test themselves against strong opposition outside of league play, and the team is eager to see how they stack up. It’s more than just competition—it’s a chance to build bonds off the ice, celebrate small victories together, and set the tone for the season.

Players to Watch
The Knights feature a lineup filled with exciting young talent. Up front, Blake Martin, Colin Silverthorne, Kye Mitchell, and Cooper Inman will look to generate offense and keep defenders on their heels. On the blue line, Reese Dennison and Landen Bartlett bring steady play and grit, anchoring the team’s defensive identity. Together, these names represent just part of a well-rounded roster that will rely on contributions from every player.
Team Culture and Traditions
Off the ice, the Knights are building traditions that create both energy and community pride. Pre-game, the players fire up with their go-to pump-up songs—a ritual that helps them hit the ice focused and energized. Beyond the rink, the team is already making its mark in the community by volunteering, including helping with parking at the Simcoe Fair this October. These experiences not only bring the team closer but also remind the players of the importance of giving back.
Speed, Discipline, and Heart
Ask anyone around the team to describe their playing style, and three words come to mind: speed, discipline, and heart. The Knights are committed to moving the puck quickly, playing smart, and supporting each other on every shift. They know that success will come when they rise to the challenge of facing tough, physical teams—and they’re ready to embrace those battles head-on.
Success Measured in Confidence and Growth
For this group, success won’t just be measured on the scoreboard. True success will be seeing players build confidence, supporting each other when games get tough, and finding joy in the process of getting better every day. If the Knights finish the season stronger, smarter, and more connected, they’ll consider it a year well spent.
Backed by a Supportive Community
The Knights are also fortunate to have strong support from local sponsors who help lighten the financial load of minor hockey. Businesses such as Good Guys Heating and Cooling, Norfolk Mechanical, and Dr. Rami at SmileCrafters Dental in Ancaster have stepped up to support the team, with more expected to join. That support reflects the spirit of Norfolk County—neighbors and businesses working together to make hockey possible for local kids.
With strong coaching, a lineup filled with hardworking players, and a supportive community behind them, the Norfolk Knights U15B are ready to make their mark this season. Win or lose, this is a group that will skate fast, play hard, and continue to grow together.
