Meet Emmett Bassindale — the Fisherville ballplayer chasing a world title
Powered by Walker Mortgages, your hometown mortgage coach.
Meet Emmett Bassindale. He is 10, from Fisherville, and he is already seven seasons deep into Fastball. Emmett catches and pitches for the Fisherville Flames and the Haldimand Bulls, and when the diamond goes quiet he laces up for hockey too. He got hooked watching his dad play fastball, and now he is chasing something big: a spot with the Hill United Chiefs and an ISC World Championship. Here is his story in his own words.
His Story
Fastball runs in the Bassindale family. Emmett's dad has always played fastball, so for Emmett, wanting to play was never really a question. "I've wanted to play for as long as I can remember," he says. Seven years in, that early spark has turned into a kid who shows up for two sports and gives both everything he has.
Last year handed him a season he will not forget. Emmett's team won the U9 HEFL "A Division" Championship, and his Haldimand River Kings squad went undefeated all the way to an NDHL championship. Two titles, one year. On top of that, he earned a spot on the STA U11 AAA hockey team for next season, which is no small thing for a 10-year-old splitting his time between the diamond and the ice.
Ask Emmett who shaped him most and the answer comes quick. "My dad, of course." His dad has been his best coach, and he still shows Emmett how much hard work it takes to be the best he can be. "He teaches me every day about being coachable," Emmett says, and he has opened doors for Emmett and his teammates across every sport they play. For Emmett, the lesson is bigger than baseball. It is about showing up, listening, and putting in the work.

What's Next
Emmett is aiming high. One day he wants to play for the Hill United Chiefs, one of the most respected names in fastball, and win an ISC World Championship. For a kid who has already tasted an undefeated season, that dream does not feel far-fetched.
And when he looks past the ball field? Emmett wants to be a professional hockey player. Two sports, two big dreams, and plenty of time to chase both. If his first seven years are any sign, he is not going to waste a minute.
Who He's Thanking
Emmett wanted to thank the people in his corner, starting with his parents and his sister for hauling him to every game and practice, and his whole family for always showing up to watch. He gave a shoutout to Coach Bones for being a great coach on and off the ice, and to the Townsend Tide for making him part of their team and helping him become a better ball player. Behind every young athlete is a crew like this, and Emmett knows it.
