Holy Trinity Titans One Win Away From CWOSSA Championship Game

March 05, 20263 min read

Talbot Gardens will once again become the centre of high school hockey in Norfolk County Thursday morning, and the hometown team will be right in the middle of it.

The Holy Trinity Titans girls hockey team has advanced to the CWOSSA Girls A/AA semifinals and will face Saugeen at 10:30 am with a chance to move one step closer to OFSAA.

For the players wearing the Titans crest, the moment is significant. Talbot Gardens is not just another rink. It is their home arena, a place where countless minor hockey games, practices and memories have been built. Now it becomes the stage for one of the most important games of their season.

Battling Through Pool Play

The Titans earned their semifinal spot by finishing first in Pool B after a competitive day of games on Wednesday.

Holy Trinity opened the tournament with an impressive 4-2 victory over Kincardine. The win set the tone early, showcasing the team’s ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities while maintaining strong defensive play.

Later in the afternoon, the Titans returned to the ice against Erin District High School in a tightly contested matchup. Erin edged Holy Trinity 3-2 in a game that could have easily gone either way.

When the dust settled, the Titans finished pool play with a 1-1 record, scoring six goals and allowing five. A +1 goal differential proved to be the difference maker in a tightly contested pool, giving Holy Trinity first place and the semifinal berth.

In tournament play where every shift matters, those details often determine who continues and who goes home.

Thursday morning presents the next challenge.

At 10:30 am inside Talbot Gardens, Holy Trinity will face Saugeen in the second semifinal of the tournament. Saugeen advanced out of Pool A after posting a win and an overtime win during round robin play.

The first semifinal earlier in the morning will see Kincardine take on Paris at 9:00 am.

The winners of those two games will meet in the championship game at 2:00 pm, also at Talbot Gardens. The CWOSSA champion will earn the opportunity to represent the region at OFSAA.

A Moment for the Community

High school sports often bring together athletes from different minor hockey programs across a region. For many of these Titans players, Talbot Gardens has been part of their journey for years. Some learned to skate here. Others played minor hockey championships in the same building.

Now they return representing their school with a chance to compete for CWOSSA glory.

These moments are what high school athletics are all about. Teammates rallying together. Schools rallying behind their athletes. Communities filling the stands to support local players chasing something special.

Time to Pack Talbot Gardens

With the semifinal scheduled for 10:30 am Thursday morning, the opportunity is there for Norfolk County to show its support.

Students, families, teachers and local hockey fans all have the chance to get behind this Titans group as they battle Saugeen for a spot in the CWOSSA championship game.

A win would put Holy Trinity just one victory away from OFSAA.

And it would all happen on home ice.

Talbot Gardens has seen plenty of memorable hockey over the years. Thursday morning could add another chapter to that history if the Titans continue their run.

Puck drop is set for 10:30 am. The stage is set. The hometown team is ready.
