Three hometown diamonds were busy Monday night, and the loudest noise came out of Waterloo — where the Haldimand Heat U13 turned a triple play, watched Kelsey S circle the bases on an inside-the-park homer, and walked off with a 10-6 road win. Back home, the Caledonia Bears 18U T2 hung a grand slam on Cambridge, and the Walsingham Senators 11Ur an away from the Ironbirds.

Game of the Night — Haldimand Heat U13 vs Waterloo Ghosts

The Heat make the trip up to Waterloo and leave no doubt. Kelsey S sets the tone early, lacing a double in the 2nd. Then comes the 4th, and she does the rarest thing in youth fastball, drives one into the gap and never stops running, legging out an inside-the-park home run. She caps a perfect 3-for-3 night with a single in the 6th.

Dawsyn R chips in two hits of her own, and Emma F is a problem on the bases all night, swiping two bags. But the play everyone's talking about on the ride home is the triple play. three outs on a single swing, the kind of thing some players go a whole career without seeing.

In the circle, Raelynn P goes four strong innings and racks up three strikeouts to slam the door. Waterloo's Ghosts spread their hits around, seven different batters singled — but never strung enough together to climb back into it.

Final: Haldimand Heat U13 10, Waterloo Ghosts 6.
