Game of the Night: Caledonia Bears 18U T2 vs Cambridge Cubs T2 18U A
Henning Park has seen its share of late-inning baseball, but Monday night the Bears wrote one worth keeping. Cambridge jumped out early and built a 3-0 lead, and for a while it looked like the visitors would walk out of Caledonia with a tidy win.
Then the Bears settled in. The bats woke up, the dugout got loud, and Caledonia clawed back with a six-run burst across the 7th and 8th innings. A. Davies kept the line moving with a pair of hits. B. MacQueen put the exclamation point on it, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and an inside-the-park home run in the 8th that sent runners flying and the home crowd to its feet.
On the mound, J. Stoddart was the difference. He came on in relief and tossed four scoreless innings, punching out eight and refusing to give Cambridge a foothold while his teammates figured out the rally. By the time the dust settled, the Bears had scored seven runs without an answer.
Final: Caledonia Bears 18U T2 7, Cambridge Cubs 3.
