Game of the Night: Port Dover U13 Girls vs Six Nations
The Kinsmen Diamond crowd had to sweat this one out. Port Dover spots Six Nations a lead early and trails by as many as five, the kind of hole that ends a lot of June ballgames. The Port Dover U13 girls have other ideas.
The bottom of the third is where it all turns. The home side sends the lineup around and pushes across five runs, the rally capped by a Tessa B two-RBI single that ties the game and flips the energy in the dugout. From there it becomes a slugfest, and Port Dover just keeps swinging.
Tessa B, Leah J, and Julia S each drive in a pair. Leah J goes 2-for-2 for the team-high in hits and comes on in relief to nail down the win. Helaina M sets the tone in the circle to start, drawing walks and running the bases hard. As a team, Port Dover is relentless on the paths, working 14 walks and swiping seven bags while Six Nations scratches most of its runs across on free passes.
Final: Port Dover 13, Six Nations 11.
