Simcoe Giants 10Ubuilt an 8-2 lead, watched Waterloo storm back with four in the 6th, and held on8-7to take the Hometown Game of the Night. Elsewhere across the region: the Haldimand Heat 11U lit up Lucan-Ilderton 17-9 behind Beatrice V's 4-RBI day, the Delhi Tigers Rep 13U dropped a 12-10 thriller to Aylmer, and the Heat 09s lost a walk-off in Brampton.

Game of the Night — Simcoe Giants 10U vs Waterloo Tigers 10U-T1

The Giants' 10U weren't going to make it easy. Wednesday at home, Simcoe and the Waterloo Tigers traded scoreless frames for three innings — James C dealing on the mound for the Giants, six strikeouts through his five innings of work.

Then the bats woke up. Bottom of the 4th, Simcoe pushed four runs across to swing the lead. Bottom of the 5th, four more — Lucas F drove in a pair, Taylor G doubled home two — and suddenly it was8-3 Giants.

Then the 6th happened.

Waterloo's Theo H came up with runners on. Single, three runs scored. Elliott P followed with another base hit. Before the inning ended, the Tigers had crossed four runs and the lead was down to one:8-7. Tying run on base. Giants pitching held.

Final: Simcoe Giants 10U 8, Waterloo Tigers 10U-T1 7.

Solid all-around outing for the Giants — Riley A and Easton D both went 2-for-3 at the plate, Simcoe drew nine walks, swiped nine bases, and didn't make a single error. James C ate five clean innings on the mound. A five-run lead nearly got away. Didn't.

  • Haldimand Heat 11U crushed Lucan-Ilderton 17-9 — Beatrice V went 3-for with 4 RBI including an inside-the-park home run. Sylena P tossed two perfect innings on the mound (0 hits, 5 K)

  • Delhi Tigers Rep 13U dropped a 12-10 thriller to the Aylmer Pirates — Delhi led most of the way before Aylmer rallied with 3 runs in the 6th and 3 more in the 7th. Liam M went 2-for with 2 RBI for Delhi

  • Haldimand Heat 2011dropped a toguh one to Palmerston, Kenzee A and Lily P each notched a hit.

  • Heat U15 also lost to Palmerston, Charlotte Snyder had a hit + RBI; Anna Stuart, Lexia Martin, Jordan Lee, Charlie Meyer each added hits.
