Simcoe Giants 10U turned a Tuesday road trip into a hit parade, banging out 18 hits in a 14-4 win over the Waterloo Tigers. Across Norfolk and Haldimand it was a busy night: the 2011 Haldimand Heat 15U rallied past Woodstock, the Simcoe SR Giants rolled, the U13 Haldimand Bulls outslugged Wilmot, and the Timberwolves were back on the lacrosse floor.
Game of the Night: Simcoe Giants 10U vs Waterloo Tigers
The Simcoe Giants 10U packed the bats for the drive to Waterloo, and they did not waste the trip. By the time five innings were done, the Giants had piled up 18 hits and a 14-4 win over the Waterloo Tigers 10U-T1.
It was a team-wide hit parade, but a few bats stood out. James had the loudest day of the bunch, going 3-for-4 and driving in five runs, including a triple that cleared the bases and got the visiting dugout on its feet. Riley was a one-man rally, reaching base every single time up. He finished a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and four runs scored, turning hit after hit into constant traffic on the basepaths.
The supporting cast did plenty too. Easton doubled and knocked in two, and Keaton added three more RBI to keep the line moving. Once Simcoe started stringing hits together, Waterloo could not slow it down.
Eighteen hits. Four runs scored by one kid. A five-RBI afternoon. For a 10U squad on the road, this was about as fun as a Tuesday gets.
Final: Simcoe Giants 10U 14, Waterloo Tigers 10U-T1 4.
