Game of the Night: Dundas Blues vs. Port Dover Sailors (PJHL)

The Port Dover Sailors made the road trip to Market Street Arena in Dundas on Thursday night and ran into a Blues team that never eased off the gas. Dundas won it 9-2.

Dylan Courrier scored in the first period for the Sailors, but Dundas carried a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. Then came the second period, where the game got away from Port Dover. The Blues poured in five goals to make it 7-1.

Dundas spread the scoring around. Drennan and Burton each scored twice on the night, and Roberts, Wellstead, Gendall, Kisil and Vandenheuvel each added one. The Blues outshot the Sailors 44-27 and went 2-for-2 on the power play, while Port Dover finished 0-for-1.

Koekoek gave the Sailors something to cheer about with a goal in the third, but Dundas added two more in the period to close it out. Rough night at the office for Port Dover, and a long season ahead to bounce back.

Final score: Dundas Blues 9, Port Dover Sailors 2.

Coming Up: Streetsville Derbys at Dunnville Jr. Mudcats

The Derbys come to town tonight, and the Mudcats know what they are walking into. Streetsville put 11 goals on the Port Dover Sailors back on September 19, so Dunnville's defence will have its hands full at Dunnville Memorial Arena.

The Mudcats have already faced two Haldimand and Norfolk rivals this fall, falling 5-2 to Hagersville on September 27 and 3-2 in Port Dover on October 4. Tonight is a chance to turn the page in front of the home crowd.

Puck drop is 7:30 p.m. tonight, Friday, October 16. Both teams play in the South Division's Bloomfield group, so every point counts. Get out to the rink or catch it on SportsEngine Play.
