Game of the Night: Haldimand River Kings vs. NOTL (U16A)
The first period at HCCC came and went without a goal. The Haldimand River Kings U16A and NOTL headed to the first intermission tied 0-0.
Then the second period belonged to Haldimand. The River Kings scored five times in 20 minutes, and NOTL had no answer. A scoreless game turned into a 5-0 lead before the third even started.
The third was more of the same. Haldimand added four more goals while NOTL stayed off the board, and the shutout held. Nothing in the first, five in the second, four in the third. That is how a quiet start becomes a statement night at home.
Final: Haldimand River Kings 9, NOTL 0.
Around the Ice

Port Dover Sailors and the Niagara RiverHawks were tied 1-1 after the first at Gale Centre, but Niagara scored three in the second and won 4-1 in PJHL play. C. Thompson had the Sailors' lone goal, and Niagara outshot Port Dover 40-23.
Norfolk Knights U14AA traded goals with Hamilton Steel in Waterford and were tied 3-3 after one. Hamilton scored four in the second, and each team added one in the third for an 8-5 Steel win.
Norfolk Knights U16AA hung with Milton for two periods in Waterford, trailing just 3-2 heading to the third. Milton scored three times in the final frame for a 6-2 win.

Coming Up: Dunnville Jr. Mudcats at Grimsby Peach Kings
Tonight at Peach King Arena (7:30 p.m.), the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats look to bounce back from that 6-2 loss in Dundas. Dunnville sits seventh in the Bloomfield Division at 4-8-1 with 9 points, 47 goals for and 58 against. Grimsby is third with 14 points in 12 games and a 60-39 goal advantage, but the Peach Kings dropped their most recent game too.
The standings tell a simple story. Dunnville has played 13 games to Grimsby's 12, so the Mudcats are five points back and the Peach Kings still have a game in hand. Last night showed the challenge, with Dundas outshooting Dunnville 45-27. A week ago, though, the Mudcats put eight past Streetsville at home, so the offence is capable of a big night.
There is no long wait for a rematch. The same two teams meet again Saturday, October 24, at 8 p.m. at Dunnville Memorial Arena. Haldimand fans who cannot make the drive to Grimsby tonight can circle that one on the calendar.
