Game of the Night: Niagara Riverhawks vs. Dunnville Mudcats (Junior C)

The Niagara Riverhawks started fast at the Gale Centre and never let go of the lead. Two goals in the first period sent them to the room up 2-0, and the Dunnville Mudcats had work to do.

Dunnville answered in the second. M. Pasma got the Mudcats on the board, but Niagara scored in the same period too, and the Riverhawks carried a 3-1 lead into the third.

The final frame stayed Niagara's. One more goal made it 4-1, with A. Butera scoring twice on the night and N. Madere and K. Bateman adding one each. The Riverhawks outshot Dunnville 39-30.

It was Niagara's ninth straight win. Dunnville sits 3-9-1 in the Bloomfield Division and gets right back at it Friday night at home against Dundas.

Final: Niagara Riverhawks 4, Dunnville Mudcats 1.

Hagersville gets a chance to answer Saturday at home against Glanbrook.

Coming Up: Port Dover Sailors at Grimsby Peach Kings

Friday at Peach King Arena (7:30 p.m.), the Sailors face the hottest offence in the Bloomfield Division. Grimsby is third at 10-3-1 with 22 points, has won four straight, and leads the division with 75 goals for (41 against). Last weekend the Peach Kings edged Hagersville 4-3 in overtime.

Port Dover is seventh at 4-9-1 with 9 points, 46 goals for and 82 against, and has lost six in a row. The most recent was a 10-6 loss at home to Glanbrook on Sunday. The Sailors have played 14 games, one fewer than Grimsby and Hagersville, and sit three points behind Hagersville with a game in hand on both of them. A win would tell everyone this group is not done, and the goals-against column is the thing to watch.

The Sailors are back home Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Port Dover Arena against Streetsville. Get out to the rink on Friday if you can, or catch the Grimsby game on SportsEngine Play, which lists it on the schedule.
