Baseball and fastball diamonds across Norfolk and Haldimand stayed busy all weekend, and Sunday delivered the topper: a Haldimand Heat U15 intra-club thriller that ended on a walk-off single in the 8th. Across the three days the Caledonia Bears rolled Stratford, the Six Nations Smoke swept their Sunday slate, and the Simcoe seniors rallied past Port Dover. Here is your Friday-to-Sunday recap.

Game of the Weekend: Haldimand Heat U15 vs 2011 Haldimand Heat 15U

Sunday belonged to the Haldimand Heat, and fittingly, the best game of the weekend was Heat against Heat. The regular U15 squad and the 2011 U15 squad squared off in an intra-club showdown, and it had everything.

The 2011 side struck first. Avrie B homered in the first inning to put her squad in front early. From there the two rosters traded blows the way only teammates who know each other's swings can. Balls found gaps. Runners kept moving. By the end of regulation the game was tied and headed to extra innings.

The regular U15 squad kept grinding, piling up hits until they had 16 on the day. In the bottom of the 8th, with the game on the line, Addison Matthews stepped in and laced an RBI single to bring the winning run home. Walk-off. The U15s take the intra-club thriller in one of those games nobody in the family really wanted to lose.

Final: Haldimand Heat U15 10, 2011 Haldimand Heat 15U 9.
