PJHL play opened the weekend across Norfolk and Haldimand, with all three hometown clubs in action over three days. Sunday's headliner at Port Dover Arena saw the Sailors and Hagersville Hawks trade goals deep into the third period before a late go-ahead strike settled it. Dunnville and Port Dover each also hit the road earlier in the weekend, and both came up short against tough Junior C competition.

Game of the Weekend: Port Dover Sailors vs Hagersville Hawks

Sunday afternoon at Port Dover Arena had everything a hometown crowd could ask for. The Sailors and Hagersville Hawks went shot for shot from the opening puck drop, with Cole Thompson getting Port Dover on the board early and Zach Vanderelzen answering right back for the Hawks. Neither side let the other pull away. Dawson Fulsom and Landon Leblanc kept Hagersville within reach, while Nolan Miron, Kaiden Bradley and Quinn Carpenter traded chances for the Sailors as the game swung back and forth into the third.

Still tied with time ticking away, it was Trevor Nunn who delivered for the home crowd, burying the go-ahead goal at 6:01 of the third to put Port Dover in front for good. Liam Campolo pushed Hagersville to answer, but the Sailors held the line, and Cole McCallum's empty-net goal in the final minute sealed it. Netminder Jacob Pennington backstopped the win, turning aside 35 shots in a game the Hawks pressed hard for all night.
