Game of the Weekend: Port Dover Sailors vs Dunnville Mudcats

Sunday at Port Dover Arena, 202 fans settle in for a Junior C battle between the Port Dover Sailors and the Dunnville Mudcats. Trevor Nunn gets the home side on the board in the first period, and D. Winger answers for Dunnville, so it is tied 1-1 after 20 minutes.

Dunnville's J. Pillitteri breaks the tie in the second to make it 2-1, and for a while it looks like the visitors might hang on. Then Nunn strikes again late in the period with a tying goal that sends the building into the second intermission all square at 2-2.

The third is a tight one. The Sailors, who outshoot Dunnville 36-24 on the night, finally break through at 9:09 when Cole McCallum buries the game-winner, and Port Dover holds on from there. Two goals for Nunn and a big one for McCallum make it a win the home crowd will remember, just two days after a tough road night in Grimsby.

Final: Port Dover Sailors 3, Dunnville Mudcats 2.
