Coming Up: Port Dover Sailors at Glanbrook Rangers
Wednesday night at Glanbrook Arena (7:30 p.m.) is a rematch with something to prove. When these teams met in Port Dover on October 25, the Sailors led 5-2 after one, then watched Glanbrook score four in the second and four in the third for a 10-6 final. Glanbrook sits sixth in the Bloomfield Division at 6-8-1 with 13 points (59 goals for, 64 against). Port Dover is seventh at 4-11-1 with 9 points, and has lost eight straight.
The Sailors come in off an 8-0 loss at Grimsby and a 10-2 home loss to Streetsville, where Trevor Nunn scored both goals. Nunn has 23 points in 14 games and Dylan Courrier has 20 in 14. Port Dover is four points back of Glanbrook, which has played one fewer game (15 to 16), so a win would cut the gap to two. The tough part is the goals-against column, 100 in 16 games.
Glanbrook's offence runs through Sammy Cino (21 points in 15 games) and Ryan Wercholaz (20 points in 14 games, 49 penalty minutes). The Rangers dropped a 4-3 decision in Hagersville on Saturday. If you want to support local junior hockey, get out to the rink or catch it on SportsEngine Play.
