Sailors Battle Hard in 8–4 Loss to Dundas
Port Dover, ON – October 5, 2025
The Port Dover Sailors left it all on the ice Sunday afternoon, battling through a physical, fast-paced PJHL matchup before falling 8–4 to the Dundas Blues at the Port Dover Arena. Despite the final score, the Sailors showed plenty of grit and offensive spark in front of their hometown fans.
Dundas opened the scoring midway through the first period, but the Sailors responded with a power-play goal from captain Trevor Nunn, who buried a slick feed from Tyler Santos and Adam McKillop to tie things up 1–1. The Blues regained the lead late in the frame, heading into the intermission up 2–1.
Port Dover continued to press in the second, generating strong chances and creating traffic in front of the net. Dylan Courrier provided the spark late in the period, cutting the deficit to 4–2 after a setup from Max Koekoek and Matteo Alves.

The third period saw the Sailors keep pushing. Simon Feruglio capitalized on a rebound midway through the frame, assisted by Nathaniel Miron and Alves, before Tyler Santos struck again late, finishing off a beautiful passing play from Nunn and Owen McClure to bring the score to 7–4. Dundas added one more before the final buzzer, but Port Dover’s effort never faded.
Goaltender Aaron Neal faced 43 shots and turned aside 35, keeping the Sailors in the fight throughout the game. On defense, Matt McRuer and Owen Ardy logged tough minutes against Dundas’s top line, while forwards like Lucas Koutny and Aiden Cloet continued to bring energy on the forecheck.
Head Coach Kevin Miket’s group showed resilience and commitment to their structure, battling through every shift. With the season still young, the Sailors are quickly proving they have the scoring touch and leadership to hang with anyone in the PJHL.
The Sailors now turn their focus to a road matchup on Saturday, October 11th, when they travel to Hagersville to face the Hawks. They’ll return home to the Port Dover Arena on Sunday, October 12th to host the Niagara RiverHawks in front of what’s sure to be another energetic hometown crowd.
