The Future Hits the Ice: Simcoe Warriors U6 & U7 Fun Day Set for a Weekend of Hockey and Smiles
The smiles came early Friday night in Simcoe.
The Simcoe Warriors U6 and U7 Fun Day officially got underway, and after the first games hit the ice, it was clear this weekend is about much more than just hockey.
From the opening puck drop, the energy in the rink was exactly what you would expect when the youngest players in the game get their moment. Big smiles, excited benches, and plenty of proud parents in the stands set the tone for the weekend ahead.
Hosted by the Simcoe and District Minor Hockey Association, the event will feature 45 fun filled games as U6 and U7 players wrap up their season in a way they will not forget.
Tournament Director Vanessa Taylor says this weekend is a chance for these young athletes to show just how far they have come.
“This weekend is a great way for these younger players to show their skills one last time before the season ends,” she said.

Friday night’s opening games gave everyone a glimpse of that growth. From first goals to big saves and players gaining confidence with every shift, it was a reminder of why weekends like this matter.
This is not about standings or championships.
It is about development.
It is about confidence.
It is about falling in love with the game.
For many of these players, this is their first experience in a tournament style setting. The buzz around the rink, the packed schedule, and the excitement of playing multiple games adds a whole new level to the experience.
And like any great hockey weekend in Simcoe, it is not just about what happens on the ice.
Families can enjoy Dolly’s Food Truck, check out the Jibbits vendor, and take in the community atmosphere that continues to make local hockey events special.
At the end of the weekend, every team will be celebrated with pizza parties, making sure every player leaves with a smile and a memory from their final games of the season.
The schedule continues Saturday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, before wrapping up Sunday with a full day of hockey from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
But after one night, one thing is already clear.
This weekend is about the future of the game.
The early mornings.
The excitement.
The friendships just beginning.
And the love of hockey growing with every shift.
“Come on out and support your local association,” Taylor said.
Because in a few years, these same players will be the ones everyone is watching.
And it all started right here. 🏒
