Simcoe Giants Win

16U Giants Power Past Dodgers

Simcoe, ON – September 3, 2025
The Simcoe Giants put together a steady all-around effort on Saturday, topping the Bytown Dodgers 10–5 in front of their hometown fans.

Bytown opened the scoring in the first inning, taking advantage of an early error to push across the game’s first run. The Giants answered quickly in the bottom half, showing patience at the plate and capitalizing on a string of walks and passed balls to score twice and jump ahead 2–1.

The Dodgers tied things up in the third, but the Giants’ bats came alive in the fourth. Hits from A. Westbrook, E. Baldwin, L. Ramirez, and C. Shrubsole sparked a four-run rally that gave Simcoe control of the game. Bytown added a pair of runs in the sixth to close the gap, but Simcoe responded with another run in the bottom half to seal the 10–5 victory.

Westbrook led the way offensively with a double, a single, and a run scored, while Ramirez collected multiple hits and crossed the plate twice. Shrubsole chipped in with a steady performance both at the plate and in the field. On the mound, H. Wolf shook off a tough first inning to strike out six over four frames, and C. Townsend handled the late innings with poise, striking out two to finish the game.

Not all of the Giants’ contributions showed up on the scoresheet. E. DeDecker turned in several important defensive plays at second base, and catcher C. Long managed the game with composure, keeping runners in check and limiting Bytown’s opportunities.

It was a complete team win for Simcoe, highlighted by timely hitting, patient at-bats, and strong work on the mound and in the field.
