Haldimand Heat U11 Go Undefeated to Win Grand Valley Softball Title
The Haldimand Heat U11 are league playoff champions. Over two days of softball in Palmerston this past weekend, the Heat ran the table through the Grand Valley Ladies Softball League playoffs, going 5-0-1 across six games and outscoring the field 56-23. It took a six-run comeback in the rain, an eight-inning semifinal marathon against the Palmerston Marlins, and one of the best all-around performances of the season to finish the job, an 8-0 shutout of the Stratford Flames in the championship final. Here's how the Heat got there.

Six Games, Two Days, Undefeated
Saturday started in the rain, and it started rough. Lucan-Ilderton A's built a 10-4 lead through three innings before the Heat answered with a furious rally, five runs in the fourth from Sylvia, Jade and Emma, then two more in the fifth on a Jordyn triple and a Kamryn single that completed the six-run comeback for an 11-11 tie. Game two against the Waterloo Golden Ghosts followed the same script in reverse. Down 3-1, Haldimand tied it at three and then broke it open late, with home runs from Sylena, Kamryn and Ruby powering an 8-3 win. Game three brought an inside-the-park grand slam from Jordyn and three hitless innings from Ruby in an 8-5 win over Huron Perth, and Sunday morning opened with a 16-1 rout of Kitchener Klassics that saw four different Heat pitchers each throw a scoreless inning. That set up the semifinal against the Palmerston Marlins, an eight-inning classic that Haldimand won 5-3 on a two-run single from Sylvia in the top of the eighth, with Sylena striking out ten to keep it close. In the final, the Heat saved their best for last. Inside-the-park home runs from Ruby and Jordyn and a combined shutout on the mound sealed an 8-0 win over the Stratford Flames.
Two moments defined this run. The first came before most parents had their coffee, a six-run hole against Lucan-Ilderton in the opening game of the weekend that could have set a discouraging tone for everything that followed. Instead the Heat treated it as a wake-up call, not a setback, and clawed all the way back before the game was over. The second came in the semifinal, an eight-inning marathon against Palmerston that tested every bit of depth Haldimand had built over the season. Getting through both without a loss said as much about this group as any single win did.
For Haldimand County, this one caps a full season sweep. The Heat won the regular season title and then backed it up with a league playoff championship, a double head coach Troy Krywulak says the entire group should be proud of. Six games, one tie, zero losses, and a banner to show for it. Congratulations to the Haldimand Heat U11 on a championship season.
