About Hometown Sports Network
Keeping local sports stories alive — one game at a time.
A New Home for Local Sports
In small towns across Southern Ontario, local sports have always been the heartbeat of our communities. From Friday night hockey to weekend tournaments and long summer nights at the ball diamond — it’s where friendships form, lessons are learned, and pride runs deep.
But something changed.
The coverage faded.
The stories that once filled the local papers — the ones that ended up on kitchen fridges and at grandparents’ houses — started to disappear.
The athletes never stopped.
The coaches and volunteers never stopped.
The pride never left — it just needed a new home.
That’s why we created Hometown Sports Network — a platform for the community, built with help by the community, dedicated to keeping those stories alive and celebrating the people who make local sports possible.
Our Mission
To shine a spotlight on local athletes, coaches, and volunteers — sharing their stories, celebrating their success, and inspiring community pride across every arena, rink, and field in Southern Ontario.
We believe every hometown deserves its heroes.
And every hero deserves to be remembered.
Our Vision
By 2030, our goal is to give back $100,000 to local minor sports, not only through donations from Walker Mortgages, but by working with local businesses to sponsor.
When businesses, families, and fans unite, we can make youth sports stronger — together.
Our Values
Local.
We focus on our own backyards — the stories, people, and moments that make small-town sports special.
Pride.
We highlight the effort, passion, and community pride behind every game.
Thoughtful.
We tell stories with meaning, respect, and gratitude.
Teamwork.
We’re a network of families, fans, and partners who believe in working together.
Integrity.
We celebrate truthfully and always put people before clicks.
Consistency.
We show up — every week, every season — just like the teams we cover.
Our Voice
Our tone is real, positive, and community-first.
We write like your neighbour telling you how the team did last night — proud, supportive, and genuinely excited.
Hometown Sports Network is:
Proud and heartfelt — capturing the spirit of small-town sports.
Friendly and familiar — every story feels like home.
Energetic and fun — celebrating wins and lessons alike.
Inclusive and community-minded — every player, coach, and volunteer matters.
Our Impact
We’re more than a media platform — we’re a movement to reconnect communities through sport.
Every story we share helps raise awareness, spark gratitude, and build stronger connections between families, fans, and local businesses.
We’re proud to celebrate the people behind the jerseys — because they’re the ones keeping local sports alive for the next generation.
About Me
I grew up in Townsend, Ontario — where sports weren’t just games, they were a way of life.
I still remember walking into our kitchen and seeing my name in the local paper, taped proudly to the fridge. Then going to my grandparents’ house and seeing that same article on theirs. That’s a big part of what local sports meant — it connected families and built pride in our community.
Over the years, that kind of coverage disappeared. But the athletes, coaches, and volunteers never stopped showing up — they just lost their spotlight.
That’s why I started Hometown Sports Network — to bring those stories back, to celebrate the people who give their time and heart to minor sports, and to make sure the next generation feels the same pride we once did.
When one of us wins, our whole community wins.
That’s what Hometown Sports Network is all about.
